If you are interested in exploring the local area, there are plenty of things to do, all year through.

Danny Daigle, the owner of The Other Maine Cabins, is also a Maine Guide. He can tell you about some of the
best places to explore, the trails to check out, and where you might get a chance to see a moose.
The St. John Valley is well-known for its outdoor recreational opportunities.
If venturing off the beaten path is for you, this is the place you want to be.

According to Aroostook County Tourism, "Snogoer Magazine rates (Aroostook County) as one of the TOP 10 best places to snowmobile in North America."

What makes it so special? For starters, over 2,000 miles of interconnected and well-groomed trails welcome sledders each year. Our long winter season brings lots of fresh snow from December through April. In addition, many businesses and restaurants are situated close to the trail system, giving snowmobilers fun pit stops along the way.

The Other Maine Cabins has a private trail that is located along ITS 83. This provides guests with the privacy they desire with the trail access they are looking for.

The St. John Valley is known for its Fish River Chain of Lakes, and ice fishing is a popular pasttime. Each January, the Long Lake Ice Fishing Derby attracts visitors from everywhere and it has become Maine's largest cash prize ice fishing derby. Land-locked salmon, togue, brook trout, cusk, and muskie are some of the fish brought in from the lakes.

The St. John Valley is home to many lakes, rivers, and streams. Danny and Deb can tell you about some great day trips for canoeing or fishing, depending on if you prefer lakes to rivers or certain fish over others.

A Maine State fishing license is required for fishing, but they are easily attainable in Madawaska.

Many of the trails that are used in the winter are also utilized in the warmer months for four-wheeling, mountain biking, and exploring.

ATV clubs maintain the trails and there are different points of interest for riders to enjoy. It's a great way to take in the sights and discover some of the Valley's charms.
